MultiVu Helps HealthPolitics.org Increase Audience Through Specialized Internet Programming

Pfizer wanted to create an online educational health forum. Pfizer enlisted MultiVu to create the video content for podcast and web-based delivery that is the basis of HealthPolitics.org.

Case Study:

"Health Politics with Dr. Mike Magee" is a weekly internet-based electronic media program that explores complex topics at the intersection of health care and policy. Supported by veteran health leader and media expert Mike Magee, M.D., the program examines the hidden stories and emerging trends that are rapidly reshaping our health care system. The goal of Health Politics is to provide an educational medium where people learn more about health-related issues, and share the information with friends, family, and others.

Although an unbranded site, Health Politics is sponsored by the Pfizer Medical Humanities Initiative. Pfizer works with MultiVu, a PR Newswire company, to produce and distribute the weekly video show featuring Dr. Magee that is used for podcasts and web-based delivery. From a special set designed by MultiVu, Dr. Magee addresses his online audience each week. MultiVu shoots four shows at one time and distributes them via media advisories and email alerts. MultiVu also handles all post-production, adding things such as graphical elements and multimedia Flash to enhance the online viewers’ experience.

Other features at the website include Dr. Magee’s blog, access to an extensive list of related links and resources for each week's programs, a full archive of all the programs previously published by Health Politics, and downloadable podcasts.

With the help of MultiVu, HealthPolictics.org has created a forum where members can tune in at their convenience for free, health-related content and easily share it with others.

HealthPolitics.org measures success in many different ways:

- 300 to 500 weekly emails are forwarded by recipients.
- Average between 1700 to 1800 PDF downloads per week, including slide decks and transcripts.
- More than 1,000 reporters and editors are subscribers, representing news organizations such as the New York Times, USA Today, Business Week, and major broadcasting outlets.
- Blog views have increased to roughly 1,000 per week since the Fall of 2005.
