Pamela Johnston, Vice President, Community Engagement, Gather.com
Pam Johnson is the Vice President of Community Engagement at Gather.com, the leader in social media for adults. Pam oversees Gather.com’s Member Experience and Member Support Teams. She also manages content programming and content acquisition.
Prior to joining Gather, Pam served as a leading executive at Boston’s Tribune-owned station, WLVI-TV Channel 56, where she assumed various roles including producer, assistant news director and, most recently, news director.
Under her leadership at Boston’s WB the news department earned numerous professional accolades including 17 Emmy Awards from the NATAS/New England chapter.
In 1999, Johnston won an Emmy Award from the NATAS/New England chapter for her role as producer in the Outstanding Informational Program category for “New England Stories,” a half-hour special about people and places of local interest. She had previously received two Emmy Awards from the NATAS/Nashville-Midsouth chapter for News Excellence (WRAL, 1995 and 1996).
In May 2003, Boston Magazine named Johnston the eighth most powerful woman in Boston, along with fellow female news directors Coleen Marren of WCVB-TV and Lisa Hall of WFXT-TV.
Johnston holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Syracuse University. A native of Natick, Mass., she currently resides in Marlborough, Mass. with her family and is an active supporter of The Jimmy Fund and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
