The Committee is composed of attorneys from member companies who have responsibility over advertising, marketing practices, or regulatory affairs of the company. Titles of such individuals can range from “corporate counsel” and “legal director” to “marketing counsel” and “director of regulatory affairs.”
The Committee meets approximately once a month via teleconference for one hour and/or as needed.
The purpose of the Committee is to provide a forum for attorneys to come together and discuss relevant issues and current business practices as well as discuss trends and key topics that may arise from time to time as related to online and offline word of mouth marketing.
The Committee will be called upon at times to develop educational sessions for offline or online meetings as well as the development of tools that benefit not only lawyers but the entire industry. One example of this is the Social Media Template Policy which was created by the Committee.
The Committee may at times be asked to develop position statements and/or recommendations to the WOMMA Board of Directors. The Chair of the Counsel is WOMMA’s General Counsel, Tony DiResta.
The Committee is open to WOMMA member companies but at times the Executive Director and General Counsel will allow non-members to participate under certain conditions. The agenda and focus of the Committee is developed by leaders of the Committee and facilitated by the Chair.
